Weekly Coronavirus Report: What Happened Today


Around the World Today:

  • China placed Wuhan, a city of 11 million people, under quarantine orders. All flights and trains departing from the city were canceled, and buses, subways, and ferries within the city were suspended.

  • Jiangsu reported its first laboratory-confirmed case.

  • Heilongjiang reported its first two laboratory-confirmed cases

  • Shanghai reported an additional seven laboratory-confirmed cases.

  • Xinjiang reported two laboratory-confirmed cases.

  • Shaanxi reported three laboratory-confirmed cases.

  • Gansu reported two laboratory-confirmed cases.

  • Macau also reported its second laboratory-confirmed case, another 66-year-old man from Wuhan.

  • In all, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases in mainland China increased to 628 while the death toll remained at 17.

  • Singapore reported its first laboratory-confirmed case, a 66-year-old man from China.

  • Vietnam confirmed its first two laboratory-confirmed cases, a 65 or 66-year-old father and a 27 or 28-year-old son from China.
