Final US County to Record COVID-19 Case

A year ago, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the first case of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the United States in the state of Washington. Less than eleven months later, the deadly virus spread to a remote Hawaiian enclave — established for patients with leprosy. Kalawao County has recorded its first ever-case. The smallest county in the United States, measured by both population and land area. According to the 2019 United States Census Bureau, Kalawao County, had a population of 66 people as of 2019. According to data collected by the COVID-19 Data Repository by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, Kalawao County is the last U.S. county to record a coronavirus case.
